These days, it often seems like only negative stories about police officers make the news. That’s why it’s so great that a story about a cop doing a good deed for a struggling mother is going viral this week!
Bradley of the Mississippi Highway Patrol was working his normal shift recently when he pulled over a mother driving with her young toddler. The mother’s name was Niya, and she was on her way to bring her son to the doctor when Sanders pulled her over. Bradley informed Sumter that she had not secured her son in his car seat, and he proceeded to write her three tickets. Then something unusual happened: he told her to follow him.
Niya was stunned when Bradley led her to a store, where the trooper proceeded to buy a brand new car seat for her son with his own money!
“Can I say how good god is headed to my son Dr. Apt Got Pulled Over Mr. Bradley he Gave Me 3 Tickets After giving me my tickets he said follow me let’s go buy your baby a car seat!” Niya wrote in a Facebook post that has since gone viral. “Due to Kaemon Being in a big boy seat and trying to get out of it while the police talking to me 🤦🏽♀️ He told me in January when I go to court he will throw them out I just thank god.”
Sanders later said that it was a call from his wife after writing the citations for Sumter that led him to carry out this good deed.
“She was very grateful. She was saying, ‘Thank you,’ and she understood that the traffic stop was legitimate. She had no issue with what was going on,” Sanders said. “She did state she was trying to do the best she could with her son being in the car seat that he was in.”
Officer Bradley later admitted that while there are some bad apples on the police force, most officers got into policing to help people, just like he did.
“Overwhelmingly, there are great cops out there. Are there a few bad apples out there? I am sure. But most of us got into this profession to help people, as I did myself,” Bradley said. “I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. I wanted to help.”
